BB Q10

At a time when every smartphone maker seems to be ditching the QWERTY for a touchscreen, it could have been surprising for any maker to chose to persist with the keyboard in their latest product, but not for me with BlackBerry (BB) Q10.
Since QWERTY keypad has always been a standout for BB, this was always on the cards.
The model also has a lot in common features and software entities with the Z10  which was launched a few months ago.
The phone is smooth in operation. Gestures like swipe and pinching make it easy for users to multi-task (just like any other smartphone except Gestures) and explore the many features of the phone simultaneously. One of the things that we’ve always loved about the BB was that we could access emails and texts in one tab. This has been further expanded with the BB Hub, which now also syncs Twitter, Foursquare and WhatsApp etc, with your phone.
The Internet Explorer 10 works smoothly and makes browsing a pleasant experience. Internet explorer for me was never a BB advantage as compared to phones and androids, but this time is is good. The physical keypad is smooth, as always with BB.
The phone’s camera isn’t the best in the market. When you spend Rs. 40,000, you expect it to have a decent camera that gives print-worthy images. Also, attempts to play games resulted in the no response status from the phone as it hung. Needed restarts too. And offcourse, the apps on the BB World need work and improvement if they have to match with the leaders in Smartphone - iOS and Andorid.

Specification Q5:

1.2 GHz dual core processor
2 GB RAM
5 MP primary camera with full HD
2 MP secondary camera
3.1-inch 720x720 LCD display
16 GB internal memory
BB10 OS
Price: INR 38000 + (depending on source) Official 44,990

BB Q5

The Q5 is a much cheaper Q10. At just over half the price, it gives you near about a Q10-like experience: the same software, in a cheaper package. Where the Q10 felt premium and heavy, with aluminium touches,  Q5 is all-plastic and lighter, but feels sturdy.
The phone’s camera again is a big miss in Q5. Speed is even more sluggish than Q10. And offcourse, again, the apps on the BB World need work and improvement if they have to match with the leaders in Smartphone - iOS and Andorid.
AN advantage for both especially for BB loyalist (if there still any) is that BB 10 no longer requires you to pay for BlackBerry service. You just need a 3G plan and you are good to BBM.
